And it seems that they are paperless offices and that most do not really like dealing with

applications via the ordinary post any more.

Sad that this should happen.  It could be said to be disadvantaging some member of society.

We keep being told about choice, choice in health,choice in education-everything yet in many

situations the choice is very limited.  With the passage of time this well get worse.

Then there is the cost of getting work to the big city.  Not all artists are rich, or have friends or relatives in London.  Perhaps it is like the old days when Turner was a lad(he lived in London),

Artists seeking their fortune needed to go where the streets were paved with gold.

A balanced playing field would be nice since the arts funding is getting less and less.

But getting back to basics I have done afew sketches on my mobile and sent them to my computer to print.  I do follow the trends, eg. David Hockney and his country paintings.

Might even get a tablet computer. Sometime. But like oils really.

and sent it to my  computer for printing.

Was not too bad.

I do video art as well as painting.

I like to show the idea of places, sound and

people and motion and how they link togehter.

I have had afew paintings in exhibitions during the past

I liked the paintings he did with the computer and the show looks interesting. Nice someone is so interested in the lovely english countryside.  Though I like mountains and sea too.  Wild and dramatic and full of wildlife.

This time last year it was -10 degrees and there was three feet of snow.  How things can be different.

But there is still time.  I have seen lovely snow covered hills near the borders.  Took great pictures and will paint too.  Snow went within afew days.  Lovely sky though- it also makes for great painting material. Nature is at its best in very season, one just needs to look and enjoy.

The time as gone so quickly.  The next FOTH is in the summer about June.

So with the winter and Christmas just next week we need to start to

think of next years exhibitions and what to do for them.

exhibitions that should be easier.

I have just been up to the border country seeing the lovely snow

scenes and it as really got me interested in painting some.

I took afew photographs and a video which I put on Youtube

(Virletvioletlea) my channel Virlet5.  I do attempted video work

too. But the feel of paint and creating a painting to illustrate the

superb visions seen of wild hills and moorlands is hard to beat.

floor.

I looked at the pictures, then sat in the nearby room for the

postcard auction.  There were about 50 which were sold for

from 50p to £7.  Tiny Pictures of landscapes, portraits, and

patterns.  Then there were the crisps and wine and orange

juice for me.

The show is on until 22nd December.  Go buy one.

There will be a postcard auction on the night too and a buffet.

It is called “Northern Vision”.

But like all exhibitions there one needs to plan ahead in regard to the train fare.  It is akin to the

entering of exhibitions in London.  It would be nice to enter alot of them but it is the cost of travelling

to the big city which puts many individuals off the idea.

Now its seems the Mall Galleries are encouraging online registration, where only those accepted for

exhibitions will then need to take their work to the venue.  It is to be welcomed that this can be done.

But I pity those who for one reason or another cannot do this online.  There are other ways of course.

Such as a courier transporting work, but perhaps that is a problem too.  Perhaps allowing registration and

sending the entrance fee might also allow everyone to partake.  A good idea needs to help everyone and will

surely make more artist want to be involved and lead to bigger exhibitions.

I had a picture of mine sold at an auction held at the Baltic in 2006.  I attended the event in aid of the Grace House Children’s charity.  It is a grand place inside and from the river the two buildings are very impressive

standing there side by side monuments to art and music.
